What is ADHD?

ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a difference in how the brain manages focus, energy, and organization. While often thought of as being “distracted” or “hyper,” ADHD is much more complex—it impacts attention, motivation, emotional regulation, and daily routines. ADHD is not about laziness or lack of effort; it’s about how your brain is wired. With the right support, strategies, and tools, people with ADHD can thrive both personally and professionally.

What is Neurodivergence?

Neurodivergence is a term used to describe brains that work differently from what’s considered “typical.” ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, and other conditions all fall under neurodivergence. Being neurodivergent isn’t about being “less than”—it means your brain processes, learns, and experiences the world in unique ways. Understanding and embracing neurodivergence allows you to recognize your strengths, reduce shame, and find strategies that actually work for you.

Are You Struggling With…

  • Staying focused, organized, or following through on tasks
  • Time management, procrastination, or running late
  • Feeling overwhelmed, scattered, or easily frustrated
  • Challenges in relationships from feeling misunderstood or “too much”
  • Struggling with self-esteem because things feel harder than they should

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. ADHD counselling can help you find strategies that fit your brain, reduce frustration, and feel more in control of your life.

Who is ADHD Treatment For?

ADHD treatment can be helpful if you are:

  • An adult living with ADHD or exploring a possible diagnosis
  • A teen or young adult navigating school, work, or social challenges with ADHD
  • A parent wanting support to better understand and help your child with ADHD
  • A partner or family member seeking guidance on how ADHD impacts relationships
  • Someone who simply wants to understand their brain better and create strategies that actually work

ADHD FAQs

Do I need a formal diagnosis to start counselling?

No. Many clients seek support while exploring whether they may have ADHD. A diagnosis can be helpful, but it’s not required to benefit from treatment.

What does ADHD treatment look like?

We combine education, practical tools, and personalized strategies to support focus, organization, emotional regulation, and self-esteem. Sessions are collaborative, supportive, and tailored to your needs.

Can ADHD counselling replace medication?

Counselling does not replace medical treatment, but it can complement it. Many clients benefit from both therapy and medication, but others prefer therapy alone. We’ll support whichever path feels right for you.

What if my ADHD isn’t the problem—it’s my stress or relationships?

Often, ADHD shows up alongside other concerns like anxiety, stress, or relationship struggles. Counselling can address both ADHD-specific challenges and the broader impact on your daily life.
